Chronic Back Pain

Low back pain is one of the most common orthopedic issues that people experience, and is a leading cause of inability to work and perform necessary daily activities. It can range from temporary (acute) to long-lasting (chronic) and can be influenced by a multitude of factors. These can include overall weakness, poor posture and body mechanics, walking or movement issues, and ongoing stress, anxiety, and depression.

The cause of back pain is often multi-factorial, but can stem from injuries like disc herniations, compression fractures, and muscle or ligament damage. Age-related degeneration and diseases like arthritis can also play a role.

Physical therapy and exercise is strongly show to help decrease symptoms and overall disability when faced with chronic back pain - even more than rest, medication, and surgical intervention.
