Father's Day 2025

What Father’s Day Means to Me — As a Dad and a Practice Owner

Father’s Day always makes me pause—and reflect. Not just on being a dad, but also on the responsibility, purpose, and privilege of being a caregiver in more ways than one. At home, I’m “Dad”—the protector, the pancake maker, the coach on the sidelines, the one who’s sometimes goofy and sometimes grounding. At work, I’m the owner of a physical therapy clinic, where I lead a team that helps people recover, rebuild, and return to the things they love—often so they can show up more fully for their families too. This dual role constantly reminds me how closely connected fatherhood and physical therapy really are. Both are about support. Both take patience. Both are about showing up when it matters most—through tough times, recovery, and even the small wins.

Lessons from the Clinic — Applied at Home

I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear. Progress takes time, effort, and encouragement. The same is true in parenting. Some days are hard. Some feel like you’ve taken a step back. But the most important thing is to keep showing up. Keep trying. Keep believing that effort will pay off.One of the most meaningful parts of being part of a patient's journey is watching them take their first pain-free steps after surgery, or return to work or play after months of recovery. As a dad, it’s just as rewarding watching my kids take steps of their own—whether that’s learning to ride a bike or navigating life’s challenges with growing independence.

Supporting Dads—Inside and Outside the Clinic

Father’s Day is also a reminder that dads need care too. We’re often so focused on being strong for others that we forget to take care of our own health—physical, mental, and emotional. At our clinic, we’re seeing more men prioritize their health—not just to avoid injury, but to stay strong and active for their families. That’s something worth celebrating. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s one of the best things you can do for the people who count on you.

A Message to Fellow Fathers

To all the dads out there juggling work, family, health, and everything in between: I see you. I know it’s not always easy, and the job doesn’t come with a playbook. But your presence matters. Your effort matters. And even when you don’t feel like you’re getting it all right—you’re likely getting more right than you know. So this Father’s Day, I hope you take a moment to breathe, to reflect, and to appreciate all that you do. And maybe even schedule that physical therapy visit you’ve been putting off.You deserve it.
