DEMENTIA VERSUS ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are often terms used interchangeably, but they refer to different aspects of cognitive impairment. Dementia is an umbrella term for cognitive decline that is severe enough to impact daily life, which includes various conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder and is the most common cause of dementia.

TREATING CONTUSIONS

Contusions, also known as bruises, can occur after a blow or repetitive blows to a part of the body. No matter the cause or severity of your contusion, your physical therapist can help to manage and treat your contusion using a variety of therapies, including rest, ice, heat, compression, elevation, and others so that you experience a speedy recovery.

 

WHAT IS MANIPULATIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY?

Manipulative physical therapy is a specialized type of physical therapy that uses hands-on techniques to effectively treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. This type of physical therapy involves applying specific manual movements and manipulation to the joints, muscles, and soft tissues of the body. The goal of manipulative therapy is to restore normal joint functioning, decrease pain, increase range of motion, and enhance overall function.

 

Meet Jessica Landau, DPT

Jessica Landau is an experienced and compassionate Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 10 years of experience in delivering high-quality, individualized care. A graduate of the top ranked Northwestern University, Jessica combines academic excellence with a passion for empowering patients to reach their fullest potential.

Her expertise spans a wide range of conditions, including orthopedic, neurological, and complex cases, and she has experience treating patients of all ages—from infants to seniors. Jessica works with athletes, individuals with chronic pain, and those facing long-term health challenges, focusing on restoring function, improving mobility, and reducing pain. Known for her holistic approach, Jessica focuses on understanding the whole person—physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors—ensuring that her treatments          are tailored to meet each patient’s unique needs.
