June is Men’s Health Awareness Month, an effort to shine the spotlight on men’s health and well-being. It’s the perfect time for men to check in with themselves and think about how they are taking charge of their health. It’s also an opportunity to set personal wellness goals and start building a plan to reach them so you can stay healthy, strong, and steady as you age.
At FYZICAL-Forest Grove, we want to send a clear message to men of all ages: There is zero shame in reaching out for help when something doesn’t feel right in your body.
Sometimes, men are conditioned by society to “tough it out.” They might ignore symptoms or delay care until things get worse. But true strength isn’t about powering through pain or pretending everything’s fine. It’s about being proactive, acknowledging when something’s off, and taking steps to fix it.
Dizziness? Unsteadiness? Let’s Talk.
Dizziness and balance issues are more common than you might think — especially if you’re on multiple medications, managing chronic conditions, or recovering from an illness or injury. It can feel unsettling or scary.
The good news? You don’t have to live with it.
Red flag symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, one-sided weakness or numbness, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, double vision, confusion, loss of consciousness, or cold sweats require an immediate trip to the ER.
But if you’ve been feeling a little “off” for a while, we’re the place to start for lasting solutions. Our team at FYZICAL-Forest Grove specializes in identifying and treating the root causes of balance and dizziness problems. Whether it’s related to your inner ear, nervous system, or a combination of factors, we’ll work with you to develop a plan that decreases dizziness, improves your stability, reduces your risk of falls, and gets you back to doing what you love — safely.
Midlife Shifts
Aging brings changes in muscle mass, which can make us more prone to pain and injuries. Additionally, older adults sometimes notice changes in sexual function and pelvic floor health. These topics don’t always come up in casual conversation, but they matter. If you’re noticing decreased strength, chronic pain, or erectile dysfunction, it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign your body is asking for support.
Physical therapy may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but it can play a key role in helping you regain confidence, mobility, and strength. Our PTs can help you improve pain and increase muscle mass, range of motion, and stamina for your daily activities through customized exercise programs.
Our specialized PTs can also help you address pelvic health issues and feel more like yourself again. Women’s pelvic health gets a fair amount of attention nowadays, and rightly so due to the challenges that can accompany pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. But sometimes men don’t realize there are treatments available for their pelvic health needs, too. Physical therapy can help address issues like pelvic pain, urinary or fecal incontinence, a sudden urge to urinate, and erectile dysfunction. This can even help improve back and hip pain as well.
Strength In Speaking Up
As our home page on our website says, the caring and professional team at FYZICAL-Forest Grove is here to help you regain stability and jump-start a healthier lifestyle. Our goal is to help you move better, feel better, and live with greater independence and confidence.
Whether you’re dealing with balance issues, pain, sexual health concerns, or just want to feel stronger and steadier, reaching out is a powerful first step. And it’s one you don’t have to take alone. Our physical therapists will meet you where you are with customized solutions. They’ll evaluate your current ability levels and limitations and guide you to a better state of health and ability.
So this June, let’s redefine what it means to be strong. Prioritize your health. Speak up. Get the support you deserve. We’ve got your back.
