We recently completed 599 Fall Risk assessments during September as part of our National Fight the Fall campaign. We also had a good turn out for our Fight the Fall Presentation on National Fall Prevention Awareness Day.
As you may have seen last month, falling is a common occurrence among seniors and can have serious long-term repercussions and even lead to death. In addition to age, a number of factors, such as an injury or disease, can increase the risk of falling.
As part of National Physical Therapy Month, we will continue to offer free Fall Risk assessments. We found that 63% of those who were screened last month were indeed at risk for future falls.
Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the risks. Read on to learn more about useful approaches that can prevent falls.
