This course empowers adults to take control in managing their lifestyle so that they can be successful in adopting healthy behaviors. Includes techniques for dealing with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation, appropriate use of medications, and communicating with health professionals.
DEEP
The Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, also known as DEEP™, is a six-week class designed to help people with pre-diabetes, diabetes, relatives, and caregivers gain a better understanding of diabetes self-care. Classes provide participants with eight unique learning modules, including topics like signs and risk factors for diabetes, using exercise to help manage diabetes, healthy eating for controlling blood sugar and preventing diabetes complications.
Diabetes Self-Management Program
The DSMP emphasizes the individuals’ role in managing their lifestyle, building self-confidence so that they can be successful. Includes topics such as monitoring blood sugar, what to do on sick days, healthy eating, reading food labels, menu planning and techniques for dealing with fatigue, pain, and isolation.
A Matter of Balance
A program for individuals who have fallen or who have a fear of falling. The course is designed to reduce fear of falling, set realistic goals for activity, change environmental fall risk factors and learn exercises to increase strength and balance.
Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance
The goal of this course is to improve performance, balance and strength and reduce incidence of falls. Consists of an 8-form routine and therapeutic movements.
Tai Chi for Arthritis
This is a balance-based class that is focused on stopping falls before they happen. Tai chi works well with increasing balance, movement, and strength, all while lowering your risk of falling.
