Greetings

Welcome to the April newsletter from FYZICAL Germantown.

April is Parkinson's Awareness Month

April 11 is World Parkinson's Day. During the month of April, the Parkinson's disease (PD) support organizations across the country raise awareness about PD and available resources they have developed to make life better for people living with the diagnosis.

Parkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive, neurological disease and is the second most common in the U.S. It is estimated to affect approximately one million people in the U.S. and will continue to rise to 1.2 M people by 2030.

Symptoms of Parkinson's disease vary from person to person and can include tremors, slowness of movement and rigidity, difficulty with balance, swallowing, chewing, and speaking.

FYZICAL Germantown can customize treatment to help restore normal movement and function, improve your balance and coordination and increase your range of motion. Give us a call (301) 235-3031 to schedule an appointment. Learn how you can participate in PD Awareness Month. #KnowMorePD

Rotator cuff tears may develop in middle-aged individuals due to the gradual degeneration or wear and tear of the tendons in the shoulder. Over 40% of individuals over the age of 60 develop asymptomatic rotator cuff tears.

This type of non-traumatic injury can lead to a weak shoulder and without proper treatment an individual may experience a limited range of motion or a loss of function in this joint. The good news is this injury responds really well to Physical Therapy intervention.
