Golfers elbow. Tennis Elbow. The cause of elbow pain doesn’t have to be from these two sports, but this time of year, they tend to be the most likely cause. The problem with tendon strains and tendinopathies is that the body needs load to heal. In this case, playing through the pain, but with appropriate load management strategies, stretching and targeted strength work is a better choice than straight rest. Over time, the pain will slowly go away. It is best not to focus on and certainly best not to get a steroid injection for it. Trust that it will (eventually) go away. It just takes many, many months. In folks with metabolic diseases (like diabetes or thyroid issues), the pain can last up to or more than a year.
