Physical therapy is the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries through hands on manual techniques, specially designed therapeutic exercises and modalities that assist in the healing process. 

The goal of physical therapy is to restore normal movement patterns in muscles, ligaments, tendon and joints following injury or surgery and proper communication between the nervous system and musculoskeletal system to function at the highest level possible. 

Physical therapy can help with pain and injury to soft tissues and joints, strengthen weak muscles improve flexibility, function and balance and rehabilitate after surgery. 

Your Physical therapist will complete a full evaluation of your injury/problem area. Following evaluation a specific plan of care will be designed to resolve your issues and be individualized to help reach your goals to return to your lifestyle. 

Physical Therapy almost always includes exercise. It can also include modalities or technologies that assis with healing manual therapy which is hands on care aimed at improving the movement of soft tissues and/or joints and a home exercise program to take the benefits of therapy and integrate into your daily routine. 

Your Physical therapist may use technology to assist in healing, hands on techniques to aid in proper body movement, equipment to create safe and challenging exercise and create a plan to have things at your home to assist you as well.
