Parkinson's DISEASE Treatment
in monroeville

Sure, it may be one step forward and two steps back, but after a time with Parkinson's, I've learned that what is important is making that step count- always looking up.

Parkinson’s Disease is a complex disorder that involves motor and non-motor symptoms affecting function in all areas of life. Research has proved that Physical Therapy can vastly improve functional mobility and improve quality of life.

At FYZICAL Monroeville, Dr. Jessica is a certified LSVT BIG® Physical Therapist. LSVT BIG® is a standardized treatment protocol, customized by a certified therapist, to restore movement patterns and improve functional mobility for everyday activities. The program consists of 16 high-effort and high-energy sessions over 30 days. LSVT BIG® requires practice, repetition, and feedback of BIG movements that can be carried over into activities of daily life including dressing, getting out of bed, walking, preparing meals, and community negotiation. The targeted, corrective exercises, and whole-body movements will change how patients control and manage their functional movements.

Due to the progressive nature of Parkinson’s Disease, after discharge, individuals (and caregivers) will be sent with a detailed home exercise program to maintain function at home. FYZICAL Monroeville will set up incremental maintenance visits to ensure individuals can maintain functional mobility and support caregivers with any changes.

FYZICAL Monroeville also offers a Parkinson’s Disease support group the first WEDNESDAY of every month from 5:30pm-6:30pm at 2526 Monroeville Blvd. Suite 3. All are welcome!
