Welcome and thank you for choosing my practice.
Here are a few words on the first visit. Unfortunately, the first time includes administration part in order to enable the insurance to cover the cost of the treatment we (therapist and patient) need to provide the insurance with accurate details. The information will be retrieved from the first conversation and examination that will occur. To shorten tis process please download the forms that are at the end of this page, print them, fill them out to the best of your knowledge and bring them with you. I will need a driver license and an actual insurance card and any other information that you think will help as well: imaging: x-ray, MRI, claim number, attorney’s details etc. I will try to shorten the administrative part, so that upon the end of our first meeting, you will also get the basic techniques to start your healing process.
One of the forms that I encourage you to pay attention is the interview. The information that you provide will enable me to understand what are your goals from physical therapy, what really bothers you and the source of the problem. In this form there are question such as what types of symptoms you are you experiencing, the length of the problem, when it started and what your limitations are. Make sure to share any success or failure in previous experiences in physical therapy and the results since it will help to that faster to the technique that helped you better.
Although it feels long, and sometime distant from the treatment per-se, this phase is crucially important, our understanding of your findings and how we’re going to work with you to achieve your goals will bring us faster to a successful outcome. As mentioned I am thriving to equip you with initial tools to initiate the healing already from visit one. This might involve hands on work, home exercise program or treatment modalities like: ice, heat or electrical stimulation to name a few. Obviously without practice there is no success, you will probably receive a home program HEP to continue the process at home by performing exercises. The more active and involved you are in the treatment process, the faster you will get-rid of the main limitation you came for. Follow through with the program is likely to help you attain your goals much faster. On your way out you will check in with our receptionist. She will coordinate follow up treatments for you and your therapist and answer any additional questions you might have. Once again Thank You for choosing our practice and if you have any additional questions please don’t hesitate to call.
Patient Evaluation
Our patient evaluation process emphasizes investigation of the cause of the pain and/or injury. Over the years, our staff has developed superior evaluation skills to uncover the cause of the pain, and to better educate the client on the cause of the pain.
The skilled evaluation of pain is extremely beneficial for patients who suffer from chronic pain. This process helps the client to become an active partner in the healing process by providing education about how to eliminate the cause of the pain whenever possible.
Exercise training is often an integral part of recovery and enables the patient to maintain a pain-free functional mobility and the capacity to manage independently.
Tailored Therapy
After many years of experience providing successful treatment, the EWPT staff is able to provide Therapy tailored specifically to each patient’s needs by adopting exercises or manual techniques according to the patient’s ability and comfort level. This allows for treatment of a broad spectrum of ailments and enables us to assist clients of all ages.
For example, a client with severe back pain or arthritic discomfort will benefit greatly from tailored therapy since our staff is able to modify the exercise routine so that the required exercises may be performed with the least amount of pain, enabling us to find the most advantageous treatment strategy.
Another benefit of tailored therapy is that it allows for treatment to take place that helps achieve the desired results with the least amount of inflammation, as in the case of a patient who has had a knee replacement.
Patient Education
Patient education and exercise training instructions are cornerstones to our physical therapy practice. Teaching patients about their conditions and what to do to minimize their symptoms and maximize their function is an important part of each patient’s rehabilitation program. We take our motto of ‘restoring flexibility, strength, and function one exercise at a time” very seriously.
Treatment
Exercise training is one of the foundations of our physical therapy programs. Patients of all ages require exercise not only to be successful with their rehabilitation programs, but to maintain and improve their general health. As part of our rehabilitation programs, we teach patients how to do the right exercises to ensure good health and prevent additional injuries. Patients are taught specific exercises geared to help alleviate their pain and targeted to remedy their specific condition, and receive instructions to assist them in completing the exercises in the most effective manner. We also teach patients exercise strategies to make it easier for them to continue with health-enhancing physical activity, even when they have limited time and demanding schedules.
We, along with the American College of Sports Medicine and The American Heart Association, believe a life-long balanced exercise program provides optimal conditioning for good health.
Along with exercise training, treatments may include:
- Posture training
- Manual therapy
- Modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot/cold packs, and massage
The treatment you will receive at our clinic will not only help you live a more productive, pain free life. We will teach you proper body mechanics to ensure that you can work at positioning yourself in a more correct location in addition to teach you the best ways to lift objects in a safe way. We will show you exercises and stretches that will help to relieve any pain you may feel on the days you do not come for treatment, and progress them in such a way to ensure that when you are discharged, you may continue your program at home.
