Safety Overhead Support SOS System

One of the greatest predictors for success with balance and vestibular therapy is centered around how much challenge a patient can be provided. Ask any therapist - using a gait belt is NOT a fool proof technique and that degree of challenge is restricted based on fear of the patient falling. Not only does the therapist restrict challenge based on fear, but the patient also restricts their participation due to an overwhelming sense of fear of falling.

At FYZICAL Oakton, we have changed the way balance and vestibular therapy is performed. Our clinic offers a Safety Overhead Support (SOS) System, an overhead harness support system that consists of an overhead track and movable trolly that allows the patient, while secured in a simple body harness, the freedom to ambulate, perform functional types of activities, and fall with minimal risk of injury.

Remove The Fear of Falling

It is amazing what can be accomplished when the fear component is eliminated and how quickly fall risk reduces when degree of challenge is no longer the main limiting factor.

Our patients can be appropriately challenged to achieve the best possible results with balance and vestibular function without the therapist being fearful of harm to the patient, and even better, without the patient having a fear of falling.

The Safety Overhead Support (SOS) System helps You with the following:

  • Your Confidence: Reduces fear of falling, allowing you to take the next step.
  • Advanced Therapy: You will be able to Rehab Quicker and return to full strength in less than average time.
  • Natural Movement: Facilitates movement with normal arm swing, avoiding use of arms grabbing parallel bars.
  • Variations in Therapy: Allows for a large variety of balance exercises such as walking forward, backward, standing or walking over uneven surfaces and maneuvering steps.
The Safety harness system can be put on easily from a seated or standing position. The harnesses are made to hold over 800 pounds of weight - even if you lose you balance, you will never fall to the floor. Your therapist is no longer restricted to holding a gait belt or being somewhere you can't see them - they will be exactly where you need them at all times.
