Physical Therapy for a Hamstring Injury

The big group of muscles and tendons in the back of the thigh are commonly called the hamstrings. Injuries in this powerful muscle group are common, especially in athletes. Hamstring injuries usually occur during heavy exercise. In especially bad cases, an athlete may suddenly hear a pop and fall to the ground. The athlete may be able to walk with only mild pain even in a severe injury, but taking part in strenuous exercise will be impossible, and the pain will continue. In less severe cases, athletes notice a tight feeling or a pulling in their hamstring that slows them down. This type of hamstring injury often turns into a long-lasting problem.

At FYZICAL Old Cherokee, our physical therapists will learn your medical history and examine the back of your thigh. Our physical therapists will then create a plan of care, customized to you and your schedule to help get you back to doing the things you love!

How to Keep Your Golf Game Sharp

Golf is by no means a spectator sport. In golf, as in any sport, it is entirely possible to suffer an injury that could not only end your season, but also cause serious pain, discomfort, and frustration. Therefore, it is important for you as a golfer to not only know the correct way to swing and hold a club, but also to understand the fitness and flexibility methods that will keep you on your game and hitting below par.

Chances are, you may encounter an injury during your golfing career. Common injuries from this sport typically include either a knee or shoulder injury. When this occurs, you can contact FYZICAL Old Cherokee to help keep you off the couch and back on the course. FYZICAL in the Community

Our Clinical Director, Dr. Lauren Montgomery, conducted free 15-minute screenings at Profile at the end of May. Dr. Montgomery educated Profile's staff and clients on our balance training program, additional service offerings and our one-on-one, holistic therapy approach. Keep your eyes peeled for our FYZICAL team participating in more community events and giving back to our Lexington community!
