What is Direct Access and How Can it Help Me?
|
If you’re not familiar with Direct Access, this means that as a patient, you have the opportunity to seek the care that you need, now. Direct Access to physical therapy means that you can receive an evaluation and treatment from a Physical Therapist without a physician’s referral or prescription. All 50 states offer Direct Access rules, but many have different guidelines. Ask your local FYZICAL about your specific state’s laws for details.
What exactly does Direct Access mean for physical therapy? First, you will receive an immediate consultation and evaluation with your Physical Therapist to determine if therapy is needed or if further examination by another healthcare professional is recommended. Your Physical Therapist may be able to diagnosis and treat your muscular skeletal pain, discomfort, or injury without first seeing your doctor. This may help you return to work, play, or everyday activities quickly due to receiving treatment without delay. With Direct Access you can select your Physical Therapist as you would your MD, DO, Chiropractor, Dentist or any other healthcare professional. Direct Access gives you the ability to control your wellbeing by continuing care as you return to your Physical Therapist for all your musculoskeletal needs including general wellness, relief from injury and injury prevention.
Call us today to learn how we can connect you with the care you need, now!

Hear From our Patients! Meet Skip From Bristol, CT
|
In commemoration of Men's Health Month, we wanted to share a story from one of our patients in Connecticut!
Skip began his physical therapy journey for knee rehabilitation after he received a total knee replacement. He recommends FYZICAL to others because of the knowledgeable staff, well-equipped facility, and the one-on-one treatment style. Skip really enjoyed his tailored program and working with the staff. They made him feel right at home. He recently discharged from physical therapy and is continuing his exercises at home. He feels like a new person!

Manage Your Chronic Pain Through Physical Therapy
|
Chronic pain affects the lives of millions of people around the world. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and last for weeks, months, or even years. Chronic pain can be caused by a variety of conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, and back injuries.
Physical therapists, are experts in exercise science and functional movement. They work to improve motion and reduce pain by teaching proper body mechanics, tailored exercises, providing manual techniques such as massage or joint mobilization, and using modalities like heat or cold therapy. Our Physical Therapists can help design an individualized treatment plan that address the physical needs of those suffering from chronic pain. With our personalized treatment plans, we strive to give every patient the best care possible so they can get back to living life with less pain!

This simple recipe is a fan favorite because it's quick, easy, and delicious. Mix honey, reduced-sodium soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, and fresh ginger for a zesty shrimp marinade.
Cook the shrimp, add a garnish of green onion, and you're done. Serve with a side of vegetables, salad, brown rice, or pasta for a healthy, hearty meal.

It only takes three ingredients to make these tasty bites: walnuts, Medjool dates, and cacao. You can also use other types of dates and add maple syrup or molasses for some extra sweetness. (Make sure to check your dates for pits.)
Grab a powerful blender or food processor and blend the ingredients into a soft dough. Then use your hands to make ready-to-serve, bite-sized cacao balls.
