Understanding Back Pain

Physical therapy addresses the underlying cause of back pain.

Why Your Lower Back Pain Persists?

Chronic back pain is complex. Our expert team evaluates the specific mechanical or neurological triggers behind your discomfort, including:

Sciatica & Nerve Pain: Radiating pain, numbness, or tingling in the legs.
Herniated or Bulging Discs: Targeted decompression and core stabilization.
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis: Improving mobility and reducing pressure on the spine.
Degenerative Disc Disease: Strengthening the supporting muscles to protect your joints.
Post-Surgical Recovery: Specialized rehab after a laminectomy or spinal fusion.

Our Personalized Approach to Spine Health

At FYZICAL Riverstone, we don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" stretches. Your spine is unique, and your treatment should be too.

Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques to mobilize joints and release myofascial tension.
Core Stabilization & Strength: We focus on the "inner corset" muscles that support your lower back.
Solo Step® Integration: For patients with severe pain or balance issues, our overhead harness system allows you to perform strengthening exercises with zero risk of falling or sudden jarring movements.
Posture & Ergonomic Coaching: We teach you how to sit, stand, and lift to prevent future flare-ups at work or home.

The Role of Physical Therapy for Chronic Back Pain

Physical therapy addresses the underlying cause of your chronic lower back pain. Physical therapists use a combination of therapies, including appropriately dosed exercise, manual therapy including manipulation, dry needling, electric stimulation, soft tissue therapy, and class IV Laser to relieve symptoms. Scientifically dosed stretching and strengthening exercises, as well as specific postural exercises to promote core stabilization, are the key to long-term functional improvements and prevention of further injury. Patient education in the science of pain is also extremely important as individuals with back pain often become very anxious and hyper-focused on their symptoms, resulting in fear avoidance behaviors.. Physical therapists educate patients on strategies to manage symptoms and prevent further injury so that they can continue to function and avoid the reoccurrence of pain.
