Blood Flow Restriction Training

What is BFRT?

BFRT uses specially designed restrictive cuffs to apply pressure to the affected limb. The pressure reduces the blood flow to the limb creating a low oxygen environment in the muscles.  This makes the muscles work harder and promote muscle growth and tissue healing.

What to expect?

During BFRT, your physical therapist will place a cuff around your limb during exercise. The cuff is attached to a compression pump that inflates the cuff, keeping the blood in your muscle and temporarily preventing its flow from the area.

Benefits of BFRT?

By the device controlling blood flow to the limb it enhances muscle growth and strength through less repetitions, and lighter load. This allows the patient to achieve greater results with lesser intensity, and less stress on your joints.
