Toe Walking

What is Toe Walking?

Toe walking is common in children who just began walking because they rely heavily on their vision to guide them. However, if your child has been walking up on their toes for more than a few months, you should get an evaluation at FYZICAL South Green Valley.

A child may be walking on their toes because of their ankle and foot misalignment or decreased muscle strength. This type of walking may also be a result of a sensory issue. A child may have a sensory issue if they are very sensitive to touch which is why they raise their toes up on certain surfaces. Extensive toe walking could lead to joint discomfort, decreased mobility, and muscle stiffness. Physical therapy can help find the underlying issue!
