Headaches

Dr. Oron Fiksel, DPT who specializes in orthopedic manual therapy can not only treat headaches but is also conducting a research study.

As part of his doctorate in science, he is conducting a study, in which he proposed a treatment model for patients who suffer from chronic headaches. Specifically, cervicogenic, tension-type, and components of migraine headaches. With the patient’s consent, the evaluation, treatment and outcomes will be documented with the goal of publishing a prospective case series study in one of the manual therapy journals.

The proposed model of treatment is based on the best available scientific evidences, clinical experience, along with patients’ feedback. The proposed treatment incorporates manual therapy, specifically targeting mechanical dysfunctions of the upper three cervical segments, and the upper thoracic spine. Additionally, the model includes a short daily exercise routine and the removal of processed carbohydrates and dairy products from the diet.

Evolving evidence suggests the connection between the consumption of the above-mentioned processed foods, with the elevation of proinflammatory mediators, chronic diseases, neurological and musculoskeletal degeneration and chronic pain, including chronic headaches.

If you think you may benefit from participating in this study, want more information or if you want relief from headaches without participating in this study, please contact us to get scheduled with Dr. Oron Fiksel.
