Joseph Pilates developed this form of body conditioning that focuses on the central “core” that he referred to as the “girdle of strength”. Pilates trains the body as it works and functions in daily life. It is a unique system of stretching, strengthening and lengthening performed on a mat or through use of the specialized Pilates equipment found at NI Physical Therapy & Wellness.
The basis of the Pilates exercise approach is realignment, conditioning and lengthening of the body. This discipline includes controlled essential elements that are based upon trunk control and body awareness, particularly in the abdominal area. The exercises can be very individualized and performed at one’s own pace. This program will reshape and tone your body into a new “Pilates body”!!
