Bob Carpenter PT, ATC, CSCS Owner, Physical Therapist
Bob has practiced in a wide array of settings over the past 25 years as an Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Strength & Conditioning expert and workplace injury prevention.
Bob received his Bachelors degrees in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science from Pfeiffer University and in Physical Therapy from East Carolina University.
When the Carpenter family moved 18 years ago, back to the Gilbert area where his wife Christie grew up, Bob interviewed with the large hospital systems, but didn't find "the right fit". He wanted the opportunity to practice Physical Therapy in a different way. And so HealthQuest was born!
His work experiences include outpatient physical therapy, acute care, pediatrics, inpatient rehab, home health, skilled nursing facilities, hand rehab, work place prevention/ergonomics, Division I & II NCAA Collegiate levels, minor league baseball, NBA, & even NASCAR.
Additionally, Bob is a Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist.
When he's not helping his patients or his FYZICAL teammates, Bob enjoys spending time with his family, kayaking and enjoying the great outdoors.
Anthony Archer DPT Physical Therapist
Anthony was born and raised in Massillon, Ohio. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Akron, and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of South Carolina. Because of his experience as a runner and triathlete he has gained extensive experience in assessing foot biomechanics, as well as shoe recommendations for corrections.
Anthony's work experiences include skilled nursing facilities, acute care, outpatient physical therapy, onsite industrial preventative care, ergonomic assessments, balance & vestibular.
When not at FYZICAL, Anthony enjoys singing with his church worship team, running, swimming, & biking.
Lauren Montgomery DPT, Cert. DN Physical Therapist
Lauren is a native of West Columbia, SC. After high school, she attended the University of South Carolina where she received her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science and Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Her physical therapy experiences include short-term inpatient rehabilitation, working with the veteran population in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and outpatient orthopedics.
When not at FYZICAL, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband Michael, son Maverick, and two dogs, Riley and Lola. They enjoy going to the river, camping, woodworking, and spending time with family.
Lauren is excited to be a part of the FYZICAL team and pursue her passion, providing excellent patient care to the community.
Laura Lorenzi DPT Physical Therapist
Laura grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. She earned her Bachelor's degree from University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. Her research focus in college was on concussions in high school athletes. Laura earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of South Carolina in 2018. Her decision to move to Columbia for grad school was a bit of a whim, but she liked it so much she ended up putting down some roots here.
Laura's work experience includes outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, outpatient neurological rehabilitation, and inpatient hospital setting. Much of her experience is with a neurological patient population - traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, Parkinson's, concussion, vestibular rehab, etc. - which she enjoys immensely.
Laura is married and has an adorable baby boy. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outdoors when it's not too hot, and traveling.
Janet Wiman PTA Physical Therapist Assistant
Janet was born in New York City and raised in Northern New Jersey. She earned her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. She also has a Bachelors degree in Math from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. While at Rowan, Janet swam the 400M IM and the 200M Butterfly. Janet and her family relocated to Lexington in 2008.
Janet has over 22 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Her physical therapy experiences include skilled nursing facilities, orthopaedics, sports medicine, extended care, and pediatrics. Her expertise in various areas will provide you with excellent physical therapy care.
Janet and her husband, Dave, have three children, 14 year old twins and a 12 year old. Outside of FYZICAL, she enjoys spending time with family, swimming, animals, being outside, and gardening.
Kalyn Oswald PTA Physical Therapist Assistant
Kalyn grew up in Gilbert and is originally from this area. After high school she attended USCA and received a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science. After graduating from USCA, Kalyn continued her education, by attending Greenville Tech where she graduated in November 2016 with a degree in Applied Science as a Physcial Therapist Assistant.
When not in the clinic helping patients reach their goals of recovery, she enjoys kayaking, shopping, traveling, community service and spending time with friends and family.
Kalyn is excited to be a part of the FYZICAL family and serve the community in which she grew up in, giving back wherever she can.
Christie Carpenter RN Administrative Practice Manager
Christie graduated from Clemson University with a nursing degree. She is a registered nurse and enjoyed practicing in many fields but specialized in pediatrics, especially in neonatology. When Bob and Christie opened FYZICAL (formerly HealthQuest), she transitioned from nurse to Administrative Practice Manager. You will find her here in the clinic overseeing the day to day operations that keep FYZICAL running smoothly.
Michelle Matheny MA, ATC, SCAT, PES Certified Athletic Trainer & Fyzician Liaison
Michelle comes to us with over 14 years of experience in the field of Sports Medicine and Fitness. Originally from Ohio, Michelle earned her Bachelors Degrees in Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology from Ohio University. She started her migration South when she attended the University of North Carolina for her Masters Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, then accepted her first full-time job at Clemson University as an Assistant Athletic Trainer, where she spent 5 years. A move to Columbia, SC brought Michelle a job at Moore Center for Orthopedics, where she worked as the Manager of Athletic Training Services and an outreach Athletic Trainer for 3 years.
Their family took a 3-year hiatus from American life while her husband Bill worked in Wiesbaden, Germany for the US Army. It was there that Michelle discovered her passion for using her rehabilitation skills in a fitness setting. After they returned to South Carolina in 2018, Michelle joined the FYZICAL team to assist in the creation of our Medically-Oriented Fitness program. She also spends time in a Fyzician Liaison role and helping with the clinic’s marketing needs.
Her additional certicications include Performance Enhancement Specialist and FMS Level I & II Certifications.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband Bill, daughter Adele, and their two dogs, Laney & Riggs. She likes to cook, has fun restoring old furniture & antiquing, and enjoys traveling to new places.
Lizzy Williams Client Care Specialist
Lizzy is a graduate of Midlands Tech. She worked in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Charleston before moving back to Columbia and taking a position as a Pharmacy Tech.
Lizzy is an animal lover, and has a furry best friend named Daisy, who is a capuchin monkey!
Caitlyn Taylor Physical Therapist Technician
Caitlyn was born and raised in Gilbert, where her family still lives. She attended the University of South Carolina and earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science, graduating in the spring of 2019. She will be continuing her education in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Wingate next year.
Caitlyn has one younger sister. When she's not at FYZICAL or at school, she spends her free time watching a lot of baseball, going out on the lake, and spending time volunteering at the nursing home.
