Meet our Physical Therapists
Dr. Brandi Wiltshire pursued the profession of Physical Therapy because she has a passion for helping people get back to doing activities they love with maximal independence to ultimately gain a better quality of life!
Brandi earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Elon University. During her education, she gained experience working in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient neurological rehabilitation (with focuses on balance and vestibular diagnoses), outpatient orthopedic, acute care, and school-based pediatrics. She is also cerified in LSVT BIG, which trains people with Parkinson disease (PD) to use their body more normally. People living with PD or other neurological conditions often move differently, with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower. They may have trouble with getting around, getting dressed and with other activities of daily living. LSVT BIG effectively trains improved movements for any activity, whether “small motor” tasks like buttoning a shirt or “large motor” tasks like getting up from sofa or chair or maintaining balance while walking. The treatment improves walking, self-care and other tasks by helping people “recalibrate” how they perceive their movements with what others actually see. It also teaches them how and when to apply extra effort to produce bigger motions – more like the movements of everyone around them.
FYZICAL allows Brandi to put her wide variety of clinical skills to good use while specializing in vestibular and fall risk populations, which she finds most exciting. Brandi is also appreciative that FYZICAL provides excellent educational resources and mentorship to allow her to continue to grow as a clinician.
Three fun facts about Brandi:
