What Our Clients Say
What Is TMJ Disorder?
TMJ disorder refers to dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint, the hinge connecting your jaw to your skull. When this joint is strained, irritated, or misaligned, it can cause a wide range of symptoms, including:
- Clicking or popping sounds when you chew or open your mouth
- Pain or tenderness in the jaw, face, or ears
- Frequent headaches or neck stiffness
- Limited jaw movement or locking
- Teeth grinding (bruxism) or clenching
TMJD can affect anyone and is often triggered by a combination of factors, including posture, stress, joint issues, or trauma to the jaw.
How Physical Therapy Can Help TMJ
Physical therapy offers a gentle, holistic way to treat TMJ pain by targeting the muscles, posture, and movement patterns that may be contributing to your symptoms. At FYZICAL Orchard Town Center, we start with a thorough evaluation to understand the root cause of your discomfort. From there, we create a personalized plan to reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and relieve pain.

TMJ Treatment May Include:
- Manual therapy to reduce joint stiffness
- Gentle stretching of the jaw and neck muscles
- Postural training to reduce jaw stress
- Soft tissue release to reduce tension and inflammation
- Guided exercises to restore jaw movement
- Education on jaw relaxation techniques and stress reduction
- Recovery support before or after jaw surgery (if needed)
