Foot Pain is Common

The average adult takes between 4000 and 6000 steps each day.  Depending on your lifestyle and occupation, you may take many more.  Foot pain can significantly impact your lifestyle and enjoyment of your activities.  It can be the result of injury, foot mechanics, overuse, disorders of the ligaments/tendons/bones in the foot,  and poor strength and stability.  85% of people will experience foot pain at some point.

What is Plantar Fasciitus (Heel Pain)?

Plantar Fasciitus is associated with inflammation of the thick band of tissue on the bottom of your foot that connects your heel to your toes, and it is one of the most common causes of foot pain. Symptoms typically include a sharp stabbing pain that usually is worst first thing in the morning.  The pain can decrease with activities as you go about your day but can increase with extended standing or after sitting and then standing.

Plantar Fasciitus is common among people who exercise in ways that puts stress on their feet, such as long distance runners and aerobic dancers.  People whose jobs keep them on their feet all day also are higher risk, as well as people who are overweight.  Over 2 million people seek treatment for Plantar Fasciitus each year.
