What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a technique performed by skilled and trained physical therapists to help address pain and dysfunction. During this treatment, a small monofilament needle is placed directly into a trigger point to help break up muscular tightness.

What exactly is a trigger point?

A trigger point is a tight band in the muscle fiber that can cause restrictions in motion, decreased function, and localized or referred pain. Trigger points are sometimes experienced as a muscle "knot" that gets better when you rub it but always seems to come back.

How can it help?

Dry needling treats and targets that trigger point, or tight muscle, to help restore range of motion, reduce pain, and decrease muscle tone in patients with certain musculoskeletal conditions.

What type of problems can be treated with dry needling?
