Stretching

A regular stretching regiment is an excellent way to maintain flexibility and tissue health when beginning an exercise routine, or if training into a competitive level of exercising.  Stretching allows the tissues to maintain extensibility and recover from activity that can contribute to increased irritation and inflammation if tissues that are overused or strained.  Here are a few suggested stretches to address several muscle groups that can be prone to overuse injuries and inflammatory conditions associated with running.  Each stretch should challenge the tissue without causing irritation and pain.  As with all exercises, please consult with your doctor prior to beginning a new exercise routine, and begin at an appropriate intensity level that will challenge your body, but will not overwork or strain the tissues for which you are training and stretching.

STRETCHES-Perform each stretch 3 times each with 30 second hold

Running Analysis

For this topic we narrowed down our focus on runners, we do provide analysis and injury prevention for other sports as well. There are generally three types of runners; Speedsters, Endurance Monsters, and Combo Runners. Speedsters dominate their peers. Endurance Monsters can run for long periods at a time, such as marathon kings and queens. Combo Runners can perform both short and long runs well. What's Your Type?

Why is a RUNNING ANALYSIS important?

  • Having an experienced physical therapist assess various characteristics of your running style can help you prevent and/or eliminate serious injuries from occurring.

How can FYZICAL help?

  • Here at FYZICAL we can analyze your running pattern and identify any potential problems as well as give you solutions to treat these problems.
  • One way we assess your running style is through utilizing our anti-gravity treadmill

What does a running analysis look at?

  • A running analysis identifies foot strike, step rate, hip adduction, loading rates, and speed to name a few. Identifying these characteristics can address potential problems and errors with an individual’s running style before they become a serious issue.

June 3, 2021 will be the next GLOBAL RUNNING DAY:

Grab your shoes, water bottle, and start moving those legs!
