Vestibular Migraine
The second most common cause of vertigo. A type of migraine that includes many debilitating symptoms, affecting the ears, vision and balance, but it may or may not cause a headache. Besides the symptoms of imbalance, vertigo and dizziness, people with vestibular migraines may also experience increased symptoms with head movement, including: turning, bending or looking down, increased pressure in their ears or eyes, increased neck pain. They may also have difficulty hearing low sounds.
Tinnitus can also be developed as symptom of a vestibular migraine. The person may also experience headaches, hazy or blurred vision, sparkles or blotches in their vision or even losses of vision. Medication from a neurologist or ENT is typically a significant component of treatment.

Vertigo
Vertigo is commonly caused by an inner ear imbalance. The inner ear is also known as the "vestibular system." This system assists to maintain your center of gravity and balance by sending necessary messages to your brain about your movement. When you have a vestibular disorder, this messaging to your brain becomes impaired and your movement becomes affected. Sometimes, you feel like the world is spinning, vision becomes hard to focus for long periods of time and it's difficult to stand or move without feeling like you'll fall over.

Vestibular System
This system is located in your inner ear (peripheral vestibular system) and tells the brain where your head is in space. It comprises 3 semi-circular canals and 2 otolith organs (Utricle and Saccule). It is one of 3 sensory systems your brain uses to help you balance. It is the system most used when in motion.
The vestibular system is a main contributor of physical balance. The system senses motion when small hairs, called cilia, are moved by microscopic calcium crystals. When we sit, stand, move, or experience motions (such as in a car) the crystals move the hairs. That and other information from the eyes and your sense of touch is relayed to the vestibular system in the brain, which uses it to interpret motion, equilibrium, and orientation in space.

LSVT Big® for Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects predominately dopamine-producing (“dopaminergic”) neurons in a specific area of the brain called substantia nigra.
Symptoms typically develop a slow pace over years. These symptoms can progress differently from one person to another due to the diversity of the disease. People with PD may experience:
- Gait and balance problems
- Limb rigidity
- Bradykinesia
- Tremor, mainly at rest and described as pill rolling tremor in hands. Other forms of tremor are possible
The cause remains largely unknown. Although there is no cure, treatment options vary and include physical therapy, medications and surgery. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) rated complications from PD as the 14th cause of death in the United States. While Parkinson’s itself is not fatal, disease complications can be serious.

Footmaxx
Our bodies are designed to allow us to walk to properly absorb shock from the ground and distribute it throughout the leg so as to avoid excessive strain in any one spot. When your gait becomes abnormal, pain is likely to develop not only in your feet, but in other parts of your body.
Footmaxx is a product FYZICAL Therapy and Balance Centers offers that involves taking a “dynamic” scan of your foot as you walk to determine if abnormalities exist. It will show you where all the pressure is occurring, if your mechanics are proper, if instability exists in the heel or in the front of the foot, or even if your foot collapses inwards.
From this scan, we can then create custom orthotics specific to the way you walk to correct each abnormality to promote proper shock absorption. You would be surprised how your pain can fade away when you begin to walk with a custom pair of orthotics.
Our system provides a 3D scan of the patient’s foot for optimal fitting. Screenings take less than 15 minutes.

Peripheral Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy is a term used to describe disorders of your peripheral nervous system. Your peripheral nervous system includes nerves in your face, arms, legs, and torso. In fact, all of your nerves not located in your central nervous system - which includes the brain and the spinal cord - are peripheral nerves. Your nerves provide communication between your brain and your muscles, skin, internal organs and blood vessels. When damaged, your nerves can't communicate properly, and that miscommunication causes symptoms such as burning pain or numbness, trouble walking, and impaired balance. Often, the symptoms are identical on both sides involving the hands and feet.
