FYZICAL Gives Back

The history of the Bangor band is rich with triumph, tragedy, burgeoning ranks and precipitous decline in membership and attendance. Yet, throughout the 161 years of its existence, the Band has found the means and the determination not only to survive, but to thrive in the face of wars, depression, fire, and changing musical tastes. The advent of the 20th and 21st centuries has seen a decline in community or town bands. Indeed, many bands have disappeared from view with advancing age of members, declining membership, and community apathy to the literature of the concert band. Yet, the Bangor Band has found the means to continue its legacy as one of the oldest continuous community bands in the United States.

The Bangor Region Leadership Institute (BRLI) is an intensive, regionally-oriented leadership development program of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. BRLI is designed to give potential and emerging leaders the skills, knowledge, and ongoing support they need to succeed in the greater Bangor community.

FUSION:Bangor is the area’s networking group of engaged residents. The organization works to connect the residents of the area to each other, engage with the community and transform the Bangor region into the preferred place to live, work and play in Maine.
Founded in 2005, FUSION:Bangor is a program of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. It was modeled after its Canadian sister organization, FUSION Saint John, and played an important role in the Chamber’s initiative to foster stronger business relations with New Brunswick. It later became a member of the Realize Maine Network, which works to attract and retain young professionals throughout Maine. Realize Maine is a program of the Maine Development Foundation and consists of eight groups throughout the state.

Empty Arms of Greater Bangor

Empty Arms is dedicated to providing support and comfort to families who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life. We understand the devastating impact this type of loss can have on families and aim to offer a range of services to help ease the pain of this difficult journey. Our team of compassionate volunteers and professionals provides a safe and supportive environment where families can come together to share their experiences, receive emotional support and practical advice, and honor the memory of their precious little ones. We are committed to helping families find hope and healing after this tragic loss and to promoting awareness of stillbirth, neonatal death, and infant loss in our community.

Sub 5 Track Club

The Sub 5 Track Club, founded in 1982 in the Bangor-Brewer area, is one of the largest and most active running clubs in the State of Maine. The club organizes weekly runs and track workouts, directs local road races, sponsors scholarships for area high school athletes, and maintains a website with a race calendar and results and coverage of youth cross country and track. New members are welcome.
