FYZICAL Camas is now providing Telehealth Services
Given the recent outbreak of COVID-19, many people are on able to attend regularly scheduled medical appointments like physical therapy, in addition, the shutdown of local gyms and fitness facilities limits options for exercise to prevent physical decline and subsequent health issues. Those that experience the onset of new musculoskeletal pain are flooding local emergency rooms and doctors’ offices for conditions that could be effectively triage by a physical therapist with a direct access license, further slowing down access to care for those experiencing symptoms. Luckily, FYZICAL has implemented a plan to come that the coronavirus crisis through virtual therapy sessions.
Previously, not covered by medical insurance, in an emergency press release conducted March 17, President Trump announced the expansion of Telehealth coverage to improve access to care. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) responded by announcing that Medicare will cover each visit with a physical therapist for its beneficiaries throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. Most private health insurance companies are independently choosing to cover telehealth as well.
Access to telehealth allows people an opportunity to speak with a healthcare professional through their computer or mobile device (similar to FaceTime or Skpe). A physical therapist can progress or modify a current treatment plan, address a new problem and answer your physical therapy questions related to activity modifications, how to help your body heal and more.
Virtual therapy allows people of all ages to address physical problems and get on the road to recovery from the comfort of their home. Unfortunately, injuries and pain do not go away during a pandemic, but rest assured, FYZICAL is working together with the community to find ways to help.
