What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine, in which therapists place special cups on your body/skin to create a suction. This suctions allows the skin and blood vessels to expand to decrease pain and inflammation, increase blood flow, and enduce relaxation. Some people even use this form of therapy to replace a deep tissue massage.
What is Tissue Flossing?
Tissue flossing is an increasingly populat treatment modality. Flossing involves applying an external pressure above or below the muscle or joint that's been an issue, typically with a circumferential, elastic band. The pressure provided by the band safely maintains your arterial inflow of blood, while reducing venous outflow to the site. Athletes, Doctors, and Physical Therapists use tissue flossing to:
- Reduce pain
- Increase range of motion
- Improve athletic performance
- Prevent injuries
- Reduce post training/competition muscle soreness
- Improve muscle recovery
- Increase muscle mass
What is IASTM?
IASTM stands for Instrument Aided Soft Tissue Manipulation. This form of therapy is applied using instruments made of stainless steel with beveled edges and contours that can conform to different body anatomical locations and allows for deeper penetration. It is used for the detection and treatment of soft tissue disorders. This form of therapy allows the breakdown of myofascial tissues and scar tissues to allow the return of normal soft tissue regeneration. Some different disorders IASTM can help treat include sprains, tears, strains to any soft tissue or overuse of a particular body part.
