The next workshops start in April on Tuesdays at 5:30pm.  Only at the FYZICAL Shavano Park location!

At FYZICAL Shavano Park, we know that living with pain and illness can be challenging.  Our educational workshops are presented by a clinical health psychologist and cover essential knowledge and skills for coping with chronic health problems.  Learn how thoughts, emotions, behaviors and social/environmental factors all play a role in health and wellness and what you can do to enhance your well-being.

Workshop 1: The Psychology of Chronic Pain and Illness

It is said that you can’t prevent pain and hardship in your life, but you CAN influence how much you suffer when it happens.  Learn how you can suffer less from your physical conditions by addressing the role of stress, emotions, social interactions and thinking patterns.

Workshop 2: Controlling the Physiological Stress Response

Pain and illness are stressful.  The normal “fight or flight” response (stress) can increase muscle tension, put your mind and body on high alert, and aggravate your symptoms.  Learn to control how your body reacts to stressors (including the stress of your symptoms) with four highly effective relaxation techniques for gaining control over muscles tension and moderating stress.

Workshop 3: Healthy Thinking About Your Health

We may WANT to improve our health by eating healthy, exercising, taking medications, and doing PT exercises, however, changing behavior is hard.  Learn key strategies for improving your consistency with health-related behaviors and for overcoming barriers to behavior change.

Workshop 4: How to Change Behaviors for Optimal Wellness

We may WANT to improve our health by eating healthy, exercising, taking medications, and doing PT exercises, however, changing behavior is hard.  Learn key strategies for improving your consistency with health-related behaviors and for overcoming barriers to behavior change.

Call 726-201-4290 for the current dates and times and to enroll.  Space is limited.

Each workshop is $40 or $140 for the 4-workshop series package (a $20 savings).  A family member or other person attending to support a primary participant can attend for free.  Unfortunately, we cannot take insurance for educational workshops.
